In winter the last metres of the day are skied: the descent comes right down to the Wiesenrain, and the valley station of the Maranza-Gitschberg cable car stands just above the house, on the sunny southern side of the Fundres Mountains. Pure excitement on the slopes!
From our front door to the cable car
The valley station of the fully automatic Maranza-Gitschberg cable car, in the Gitschberg Jochtal ski and alpine region, is 50 m above the Wiesenrain and is reached by the connecting ski lift. In the other direction the descent is possible right down to the house, so the skis stay on to the very last metres. The fun family toboggan run is nearby, too.
Up the mountain in twelve minutes
In 12 minutes the Maranza-Gitschberg cable car takes you from 1,400 m to 2,000 m above sea level. From here you can either ski down to the valley on freshly prepared slopes or continue to the summit on comfortable chairlifts. At 2,512 m above sea level you can marvel at a magnificent panorama of over 500 snow-covered mountains: the Dolomites, the Zillertal, the Ötztal and Stubai Alps, the Sciliar-Ortler area, the Marmolada. The viewing platforms of Gitschberg, Stoanermandl and Astjoch look out over the same peaks.
Another highlight is the ride over the Valle d'Altafossa with the connecting cable car to the Jochtal ski area.

The Gitschberg Jochtal ski area has over 55 kilometres of pistes at an altitude of 1,300 to 2,500 metres, with guaranteed snow on the sunny southern slopes of the Fundres Mountains. State-of-the-art snow guns guarantee secure skiing throughout the season, and 15 modern lifts make for comfortable skiing days.

Families have plenty of room to learn here. The Gitschberg Jochtal ski area is one of the best children's ski areas in Italy: 2 certified ski schools with the "child-friendly" award, 3 children's parks with all-day care. There are also 2 snow-covered toboggan runs, reachable with lifts, with a total length of approx. 10 km, and 1 Fun Ride with steep curves, small jumps, tunnels and much more.
Snowshoes, winter trails and the magic of the mountain huts
Not every winter day has to be a ski day. Around Maranza you will find numerous snowshoe hikes as well as cleared winter hiking trails with a magnificent panorama. And by the way, you shouldn't forget the magic of mountain huts and après ski! The rustic huts of the area serve culinary specialties and traditional delicacies.
